2:55:40 marathon (1997 St. George). 1:20 half marathon (1997). 5:00 mile (1997).

Short-Term Running Goals:

Sub 5-minute mile. Run Music City Marathon in April. Qualify for Boston in October (ideally get below 3 hours). Run Boston marathon 2008.

Long-Term Running Goals:

See above. After I've done that, then I'll retire. Well maybe not. I want to run the NYC marathon sometime and I want to do some triathalons.

I'm back! -- sort of. I did a nice slow run around my neighborhood this morning. I've taken about 3 weeks off because of my achilles. It still doesn't feel completely right, but I guess we'll see.... I walked up the hills, I stretched a lot, and I did heel raises/lowerings after the run. It's good to be running again.

Did the same loop as yesterday around my neighborhood. My achilles feels about the same as it felt a month ago, which is kind of discouraging, but oh well. I ran about 7:30-8:00 pace for most of the run. Again, I walked up the hills. Did 2 sets of 15 calf raises after the run and spent a lot of time before and after stretching.

I went to the gym and stationary biked for 30 minutes.  Boring.....  It would have seemed longer except I was reading a statistical methods paper.  My achilles hurts a little more today than the past few days.

I biked to the church and then up to Vanderbilt this morning.  That was a lot of fun and good exercise also.  I might take up biking -- at least while my achilles is recovering.

I biked on the stationary for 35 minutes.  It's actually a pretty good way for me to read a paper while getting a little exercise in.

I rode my bicycle to work today.  It is a good 14 miles over several rolling hills.  It took me an hour and 5 minutes.  It was a nice ride.  Unfortunately, some of it is along a frontage road with lots of car fumes from the freeway. And there are a few places with a lot of traffic.  But the busiest part of the ride happens to be in a school zone, so the cars have to go slow.  Anyway, it is kind of fun to ride while I am still letting my achilles heal.  Kristen picked me up at work.  I will ride my bike home one of the next few days.
